How many wrong answers are allowed in math?

Hey,

I am taking the second part of the GED-Test, including math, in about 3 weeks. I am still not that brilliant in math. So i would like to be sure about, how many mistakes I can make in math to pass?

I am studying with different GED self study books. In one of them, the "Kaplan Self-Study Guide", is written, that there are only 21 correct answers in math necessary to pass the test. I can not really believe that. That's more than half of all the questions you can have wrong?? On the internet I read something of 30 correct answers. So now I am pretty confused.

Please help me on that one.

Thanks in advance.

Silvie

Forum: GED Information

Prometric GED Essay - How Long?

Hello. I'm an international student in South Africa and I was wondering how long a suitable essay would be for the GED essay given by Prometric. Their Bulletin gave this example:

Sample Topic for the Essay
It always strikes me as a terrible shame to see young people spending so much of their
time staring at television. If we unplugged all the television sets, our children would
grow up to be healthier, better educated, and more independent human beings.
Do you agree or disagree with this statement? In the following provided boxes, please
type an essay of about 200 words presenting your opinion and supporting it with
examples from your own experience or your observations of others.
Sample Essay
The question of whether or not television is a positive or negative factor in grow of our
children, can have its points both ways. But I feel that the argument, that all the
televisions sets should be unplugged, so that our children will grow up to be healthier,
better educated, and more independent human beings, is ridiculous there are many
informative, and educational and fun things to watch on television. Television offers
educational stations, which have very informative shows and programs, people can learn
many things from some of the programs on television. The television is also used to
translate news and other information to people, without the news you would not know
about the world around you, politics, big events, weather etc. Even the movies and
comedies provide entertainment and relaxation, and what better place than in your own
home. I agree that some of the television today is none of the above, but the
responsibility of what is all up to you. Our children can grow up with television, but
adults should help them learn how to choose shows that are going to be good. Television
can be a very instrumental thing, it can provide fun

Is it really okay to write about 200 words? In searching the internet for information on how long the GED essay ought to be, it seemed I would get 2 pages and that I would not be allowed to write more than that. However, Prometric says I have to write it on the computer. So what length do you think will be suitable?

Also, when should I expect my GED results from Prometric?

I'd really appreciate your help and any other tips you may have for me. Thanks.

Forum: GED Information

Anxiety with timed tests

Hi I'm 16 and was supposed to take my GED about 7 months ago. When I was 15 I studied all year using a range of books so I could take the test at 16. Well It's been a year since then and still no GED. I love this program because I feel like I'm learning from it and its more structured than just a bunch of books. Here's my reason for not taking the test yet. I've been home-schooled my whole life so taking timed tests is not something I'm used to. I've taken some before but gone wayyyy over the time limit. Even in the practice test I chose untimed because i knew i wouldn't feel so stressed. On the real test I know it is timed though so I'm worried. I hate the practice questions because all I can see is the time ticking away and I can't focus on what the question is asking. Is there anyway to get over this time fobia? Thanks
Forum: GED Stories

Is this program really works?

Hello my name is Gregory and I'm home schooled individual
never went to school since I graduated elementary school.
(In here, I have a long story. When I was seven years old
our family moved to Seoul South Korea from Tennessee.
Because my parents wanted to live at Korea and do something at there.)
After 14 years I returned to U.S recently and currently I'm living in San Diego CA.

I have a one serious problem,
which is I don't have a driver's license
so I cannot drive a car until I pass the license test.
this means I cannot go somewhere to teach me how to pass GED.
(Nearest community college that could provide me GED education
it's 12.5 miles away from where I am staying at.
And only can go with a car through highway.)

So I must ask with no offense, would this program really works
to the person who doesn't graduate even a middle school like me?

PS: Sorry about awful grammar, I lived too many years in Korea
forgot lot of English grammar

Gregory Kim

Forum: Feedback

Tutoring help with passged program?

Hi!
I recently purchased the passged program to help me prepare for my GED. I have completed a lot of the math courses, but I am finding that I need a little more help understanding some of it. I noticed that when I signed up, the passged program offered free tutoring if needed, which I could really use; however, I don't know how to go about getting this help as there seems to be no link or directions on how to get it. Did I misread about the tutoring, or am I missing something completely?

Thanks!
(P.S. sorry if I am posting in the wrong category, this seemed like the best place to me!)

Forum: GED Information

I'm Canadian, the only thing I use feet for is measuring my height. Other then that I don't know anything about your system. Your "understanding data and measurement" section sucks for Canadians because we cant use it. Maybe you should try telling your buyers before hand that it doesn't matter where you're from, you're going to learn the American way, which may jeopardize your score. Even Canada uses different measurements...and "color", how lazy are you people to not be able to keep the "u"... it's COLOUR!

Forum: Feedback

GED exam as non citizen

I was wondering if it's really possible for a foreigner to do the GED tests in USA WITHOUT having to live there? I'm from europe and there are no test centers close to where I live.
I plan on going to college in USA after the GED and could think of going to any of the states for the GED exams since I'm interested in visiting the country again, preferably the east coast though.
I have been researching but it seems like the states I'm interested in all have residence requirements, eg. you have to live there to be eligible. So if anyone has experience in doing the tests as a foreigner in America or if anyone knows anything that might help or can redirect me somewhere , I'd love to hear it.
